It is situated approximately 675m above sea level, on the dividing line formed by the Henares and Tajuña rivers, between two natural enclaves, La Campiña, to the northwest, and La Alcarria, to the southeast.
Guadalajara is the capital of the province that bears his name and is located in the centre of Spain, with Madrid to the east, and is part of the so-called “Corredor Industrial del Henares”, right on the route of the A-2 highway, between Madrid, Zaragoza and Barcelona.
Guadalajara capital occupies an area of 234 km2 and has a population of 85,871 inhabitants, according to data from January 2019 (National Institute of Statistics). Its inhabitants have more than 120 hectares of green areas and the urbanization project of the SUE 30 sector has already been given the green light in which there are 47,500 square meters where more than 200 homes can be built with approximately 8,500 square meters of green areas.
INDUSTRY
The city is located just over 50 km from Madrid and 300 km from the coast, which constitutes an optimal strategic location for any sector, especially logistics.
It is this proximity to Madrid that has made it one of the destination cities for the establishment of the so-called semi-heavy and heavy industry. In addition, the great development and growth that it has experienced over the last decades make it one of the most thriving territories in Spain.
The capital of the province has 4,484,271 m² of industrial land made up of the “El Ruiseñor”, “El Henares”, Taracena, and other sectors with suitable land to receive companies such as “Puerta Centro Ciudad del Transporte.
TALENT
In terms of university education, Guadalajara hosts part of the campus of the University of Alcala de Henares (UAH) with 12 degrees, three of them double, and by 2022 it is intended to host 1,500 more students in the new Las Cristinas Campus. Adapting to the demand, the UAH intends to extend its academic offer with two new degrees: Logistics and Biomedical Engineering.
COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK
Guadalajara is interconnected in the Peninsula with an optimal communications network:
- By road: it has highways such as the A-2 and R-2 that allow fast and direct communication with the cities of Madrid, just over 50 km away, Zaragoza and Barcelona. In addition, it is also connected to the A-1, which allows you to access the northern part of Spain.
- Railway Networks: the infrastructures developed in its railway network allow Guadalajara to connect people and goods, both from Europe and from other parts of the Spanish geography, with its city. One of these infrastructures is the high-speed train network (AVE).
- Airport: the geographical proximity to the capital also allows it to have the Adolfo Suarez Airport, 30 minutes away, as an international gateway.

- Ports: thanks also to its location and its communications network; Guadalajara is located less than 3 hours from major seaports.
TURISM
Guadalajara capital also stands out for its events of cultural interest, among which is the Marathon of Children’s Tales, a festival of oral storytelling that takes place every year at the Palacio del Infantado during the month of June. There, storytellers from all over the world gather to tell stories non-stop throughout the weekend.
Among the most emblematic monuments of the town we can find the Palacio del Infantado, the Torreon Alvar Fañez, the Torreon del Alamín the Pantheon of the Duchess de Sevillano, the Palacio de la Cotilla, the Cathedral of Santa María or the Chapel of Luis Lucena.
